This year, Kate Middleton and Prince William are still celebrating VE Day with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise second appearance that same day, May 8. They went to a show at Horse Guards Parade to mark the end of the U.K.'s VE Day (Victory in Europe) celebrations.
The 43-year-old Princess Kate stood out in an all-white outfit that mixed classic beauty with a modern edge. Her outfit included a structured blazer and a girly skirt. A black bag was in her hand, and she wore her hair back in a half-up style with a big bow. Kate wore a necklace with many strands of pearls and stud earrings that were too big on her ears.
The Princess of Wales went back to royal work this year after being out of the public eye for most of 2024 while she was being treated for cancer. The concert was her third appearance this week as the royal family celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day. It was also her confident return to the stage.
One of the 12,000 people who went to the show was the King, aged 76, and Queen Camilla, aged 77. Prince William, 42, and Princess Kate, joined them in the royal box. Six soldiers and Londoners who had been evacuated as children during the war were also sitting in the elite area.
The BBC says that when William and Kate got there, they talked to some of the soldiers who were there, including a 107-year-old bomber pilot who had been on 62 missions.
After host Zoe Ball praised the heroes in the crowd, the people in the royal box, led by King Charles, stood in honour.
On VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember, the network said there would be music, stories, and tributes "in a moving salute to those who served and sacrificed during World War II." Samantha Barks, Fleur East, John Newman, Calum Scott, and appearances by Joan Collins, Mary Berry, and Brian Cox are just a few of the famous people who will be performing.
