Speculation has erupted once again in royal circles as rumors swirl about King Charles’s decision regarding the titles of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana. While Archie and Lilibet were briefly styled as Prince and Princess following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, reports now claim that King Charles may have taken steps to limit or remove their royal privileges—and the reasons may be more complex than previously believed.
According to palace insiders, Charles’s decision was not merely about tradition or protocol but about preserving the integrity of the monarchy. With Harry and Meghan stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Charles is said to believe that extending full royal titles to their children could blur the line between “working royals” and those pursuing private lives abroad. By keeping the titles restricted, he reportedly hopes to protect the institution from further controversy.
Another alleged factor is security. Titles carry expectations of protection, and with Harry and Meghan residing in California, providing long-term taxpayer-funded security for their children may have been seen as both impractical and politically unpopular.
Critics, however, suggest the move has less to do with logistics and more to do with ongoing tensions between Charles and the Sussexes. Some royal commentators argue that stripping Archie and Lilibet of their titles sends a strong message—that loyalty to the Crown comes before personal independence.
Meghan and Harry have not publicly commented on the latest rumors, though both have previously expressed concern that their children would be unfairly treated due to their choices. Whether this alleged decision by King Charles is permanent or open to reconsideration remains to be seen.
